Description

This was an assignment to take a word and illustrate elements associated with it into letter forms. This was all drawn in vector in Adobe Illustrator CS5.

*EDIT* Thanks for the DD! And all the love :]

I really like the idea and the colours. They are all well chosen and nothing falls into the background/is lost from the detail.

I adore the moon and clouds for some reason- the style is really lovely there, and adds some personality so it's a unique typography picture, and not...impersonal and stagnant like so many are.

The critique I have is I had to focus really hard to see the letters; too many of the individual letters go out of the letter "constraints" e.g the tree T has three trunks and so it's a bit confusing. The R also isn't very clear because the spider web sinks in to the background a little bit more than the mushroom does. Also the E hasn't got a very defined bottom part, like E does...etc.

I adore the shading and how high contrast it is and the few colours you've used to shade things. Contrasts are something a lot of artists fear but you used them wonderfully here.

Overall I think this is awesome and quirky but it could have done with some adjusting the objects more to look like the letters. And grats on the DD, dude. <3 Keep being awesome!
